UFAS aims to protect human and animal health by ensuring safe practices in manufacture and distribution of animal feeding stuffs based on HACCP principles. It verifies that the industry is meeting its obligations under the appropriate feed safety related legislation and codes of practice in maintaining safety in the feed and food chain.
Certification against UFAS standards provides a mechanism for assuring retailers and consumers about the product standards of feed and feed materials, and thereby assurances regarding the safety, wholesomeness and integrity of the product. The scheme has been designed to provide assurances that animal feeds are processed/handled in accordance with the specified standards, which go beyond relevant legislation and demand best commercial practice. This Code of Practice applies to all manufactured feeding stuffs, including equine feeding stuffs, complementary feeding stuffs and premixtures. It also applies to conventional feeding stuffs, those known as “blends”, and to feeding stuffs which may be intended for use for the manufacturers own needs as well as those which are marketed.
We can also conduct your RED (Renewable Energy Directive) audit.
